The Charming Chinese-Irish Wedding of Stacey & Greg

Writer's picture: SongbirdSongbird

Stacey and Greg's story beautifully illustrates that love is patient, kind, and all around. Originally a COVID couple, Greg proposed in 2020, but as the pandemic struck, their wedding plans were put on hold. Rather than waiting indefinitely, they tied the knot in a private ceremony that year. Fast forward to 2024....

They decided it was time to celebrate their love with a grand wedding, with a welcome dinner, reception, and farewell dinner—an opportunity to celebrate not just their marriage but their journey together with their loved ones.

Welcome Dinner

The festivities kicked off at the historic Culver City Hotel for the welcome dinner, exuding charm and elegance. While the couple didn't have a traditional ceremony this time, the welcome dinner featured a unique interactive game that encouraged guest engagement. Each table received a wrapped surprise item, leading to a fun guessing game that allowed everyone to connect and bond.

Reception Venue

The wedding ceremony took place at the contemporary Smog Shop venue, notable for its built-in projection screen, modern design and indoor/ outdoor event spaces. Their wedding beautifully fused Chinese and Irish cultures. Decor elements like vibrant lanterns, red accents, and traditional Chinese elements blended seamlessly with Irish motifs, including clovers in shades of gold and green.

Catering

The menu started off with a traditional ten-course Chinese meal that honored Stacey's heritage. After the meal food vendors added treats like ice cream, boba, espresso, custom chocolates, and even a late-night taco cart, ensuring guests had a feast for all.

Special Moments

The reception was filled with special moments. Guests were welcomed by Stacey and Greg at a personalized photo & video booth, followed by a grand entrance met with a standing ovation, encapsulating the love in the room.

A memorial wall displayed photos of loved ones who had passed, adding a heartfelt touch to the evening.

A humorous prank by family members saw their car covered in post-it notes and balloons, adding a lighthearted memory to the occasion.

Farewell Brunch

The farewell dinner at Auld Fella, an Irish bar, added a cozy, relaxed atmosphere to the celebration. And was a perfectly special way to say goodbye for now.

As Stacey and Greg’s wedding beautifully displays, blending cultures can create a vibrant and memorable celebration that reflects your unique love story.
